News of the actor's death was received with shock on Wednesday afternoon and in no time, tributes began to pour in from colleagues and filmmakers.
'La Femme Anjola' director, Mildred Okwo wrote on Twitter:
"Karibi had character poise and quiet dignity. Traits we need so much in our industry. I truly love this picture because i spent a good part of the evening watching him and his many facial expressions and ohh he had them! God be with you. Thanks for fighting the good fight. Rest”
The actor opened up about his battle with a cancerous tumor in 2020. He shared via his Instagram handle that he had surgery to take out 90% of the tumor.
Months after his announcement, Fubara made a return to the screens on the Arese Ugwu produced 'Smart Money Woman' series. The actor starred as Bolu alongside Osas Ighodaro, Kemi Lala Akindoju and Toni Tones.
Reacting to his passing, Ugwu wrote on Instagram:
"Such sad sad news … life can be so cruel. RIP Karibi Fubara. Ours was a professional relationship but you were always so kind, so ready to work, such a team player, such a stand up guy with such an incredible talent. The world has been robbed of your light. Thank you for everything. “My prayers are with your family and friends in this difficult time.. May God give them the strength to deal with this loss..Rest in Power King."
An alum of the Terry Schreiber Acting Conservatory, Fubara had a career in acting and modelling spanning over a decade. Some of his major features include 'Quams Money', 'Before 30', 'God Calling' and 'Money Men Marriage' which is currently streaming on YouTube.
